Brief Biographical Statement

         I am a professor in the department of political science at Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, CT. I joined the faculty of CCSU in August of 1984 after serving one year as an assistant professor and another as a post-doctoral fellow in the department of political science at the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. I also served as a visiting professor at Yale University in the department of Afro-American studies.  I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
         Since joining the faculty at CCSU, I have served on numerous University committees, as chair of the department of political science, and president of the faculty senate. My areas of teaching and research specialization are American foreign policy, international relations, comparative politics, political economy, African and Latin American politics, and African American and Race/Ethnic relations.  I have published a book monograph on democracy and race, co-edited a book on African history and politics and contributed chapters and articles to published books and journals.  I continue to research of African Americans and US foreign policy, US foreign policy and Africa.
          I am a consulting faculty member for the Committee on Social and Behavioral Sciences at Charter Oak State College.
