IMS 210:  Multimedia
Dr. Triebwasser
                   Computing
Spring 2002

COURSE OUTLINE

This course will focus on the ToolBook authoring environment and on various input devices for preparing materials to be part of the applications you develop. The course will involve some demonstrations and classroom lectures, but will mostly emphasize hands-on lab experiences and out-of-class assignments .

It will highlight both the theory of application design and creation, and the skills necessary to build an application. As such, the course is heavily project oriented.

This is a cumulative skill generating course and so the regular on-time submission of homework exercises is essential. Homework assignments will not be accepted late. The concepts and skills needed in this course will be presented in such a fashion as to allow reasonably easy learning. Outside help will be available, as necessary. However, learning multimedia computing skills is time consuming. Students must be prepared to put in sufficient time and effort. The material covered in this course is such that last minute cramming is simply not possible.

Students will be evaluated on the basis of an in-class midterm and final, on the regular, on-time submission of homework assignments, on attendance, and especially on various projects.
